AstraZeneca are proud to be a part of European Women in Technology in Amsterdam this month. Visit their stand for an interactive VR experience and discover how they are using technology to improve patient lives.

Ahead of the European Women in Technology 2019 conference next week, our diamond sponsor, AstraZeneca, told us more about the incredible work they are doing using tech for social good and why they're excited to be a part of the event:

Tell us about AstraZeneca and why being involved in European Women in Technology is so important:

At AstraZeneca, patients are at the heart of everything we do. A global company that pushes the boundaries of science. We all share a big purpose: to discover and develop life-changing medicines that save lives. We’re diamond sponsors at this year's European Women in Technology conference which we are so proud of because it is events such as these where people can come together as innovators and share the ways we are utilising IT for the future. In order to disrupt an industry, we need equality and diversity of thoughts and to ensure that everyone can have a seat at the table.

What is the best part about working for AstraZeneca?

Ours is a place to innovate, take ownership and run with it. There’s countless opportunities to learn and grow your career. You get to design your path, but there’s support all the way. It’s a dynamic and challenging environment to work in – but that’s why we like it. You’re trusted to explore and to find new solutions. But most of all we respect the collective. Diverse minds that move at pace and collaborate openly. Here IT has the power to innovate, disrupt an industry and change lives. That’s why we’re proud to work here.

Tell us about any initiatives you are proud of at the company:

We have programmes to address healthy eating and drinking, physical activity, and mental wellbeing at 65% of our sites. We are proud of our empowerment incentives with 44.6% of our senior roles filled by women. We strive to make what we do sustainable – we’re committed to operating in a way that limits our impact on the planet with 61% of our total electricity use being generated from renewable sources. We put patients and our people are the forefront of everything we do.

What can attendees expect from you at European Women in Technology?

Attendees can visit our stand at D2 where they can enjoy an interactive VR experience with one of our leading innovation experts.
