Q&A w/ Betty Godier, Director of Engineering

Hi Betty, thanks so much for taking the time to speak with us and for speaking at this year's event! Firstly, please introduce yourself and tell us a little bit more about you and your career to date!

I'm Betty Godier, an Engineering Director with over 20 years of experience in entrepreneurship, mobile software development, and engineering leadership across SaaS, e-commerce, mobility, and industrial manufacturing. Currently pursuing an Executive Master's in Cybersecurity Management at Solvay Brussels, I focus on building secure, AI-powered systems and driving risk-informed strategies that connect technology, business, and cybersecurity.

What are you looking forward to at European Women in Technology?

I’m excited to exchange ideas with other women shaping the future of technology and learn from diverse experiences across industries in the vibrant city of Amsterdam. The event’s energy and openness create a powerful connection, innovation, and collaboration space. It will unite women from diverse backgrounds and countries worldwide, allowing us to exchange valuable insights and foster connections that transcend borders. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to share my knowledge and experiences.

What does the Leading the Digital Revolution theme mean to you?

It signifies the bold integration of emerging technologies such as AI with strong governance, ethical leadership, and a comprehensive approach to risk management. It’s essential to enable teams to create resilient systems that focus on performance metrics, prioritise cybersecurity, and foster awareness among people. This dual focus ensures that technology serves the greater good and mitigates potential risks to individuals and organisations.

What can attendees expect from your session?

Attendees can expect a hands-on, practical session that delves into building and securing AI-powered systems, with a specific focus on Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and its implementation. We will explore the key benefits, risks, and challenges of deploying AI internally, along with actionable strategies to fine-tune AI models, ensuring security and optimal performance within your organisation’s unique ecosystem.

What is your biggest prediction for 2025 for technology?

In 2025, most companies will transition into an AI-centric organisation, not simply by creating AI models, but by safely and strategically operationalising artificial intelligence. Those organisations that excel in governance and effectively foster internal adoption of AI will be the front-runners. In contrast, others may grapple with the challenges posed by shadow AI and data exposure. As this evolution unfolds, the emphasis will increasingly shift towards managing risks and establishing digital trust within these systems.

Register for your place to join Betty at European Women in Technology on 25 - 26 June!
