Q&A w/ Ruba Shubeita, Cybersecurity Engineer @ Fortinet

Q&A w/ Ruba Shubeita, Cybersecurity Engineer @ Fortinet

Hi Ruba, thanks so much for taking the time to speak with us and for speaking at the event! Firstly, please introduce yourself and tell us a little bit more about you and your career to date!

I’m Ruba, a Solution Engineer at Fortinet, where I work closely with organizations across industries to design and implement advanced cybersecurity architectures. With a background in systems engineering and a deep interest in the human side of technology, I’ve built my career around bridging technical depth with strategic value. Beyond my role, I’m actively involved in Fortinet’s WISE (Women in System Engineering) initiative, where I help foster a strong community for women in cybersecurity.

What are you looking forward to at European Women in Technology?

I’m looking forward to being in a space where innovation, leadership, and diversity intersect. Events like these are powerful — not only for learning and professional growth, but for the meaningful conversations and connections that happen in between sessions. I’m excited to share, to listen, and to walk away feeling recharged and inspired.

What does the Leading the Digital Revolution theme mean to you?

To me, Leading the Digital Revolution is about embracing both the pace and the purpose of change. It’s not just about adopting new technologies — it’s about leading with intention, designing with inclusivity, and ensuring that innovation serves people, not just progress. As someone working in cybersecurity, I see this revolution as a call to create trust and resilience at the core of our digital future.

What can attendees expect from your session?

Attendees can expect an honest, practical conversation about how AI is reshaping the cybersecurity landscape — from threat detection to decision-making. I’ll share real-world examples, lessons learned, and where we see the greatest opportunities and risks. Whether you’re a tech leader or hands-on practitioner, the session will offer valuable insights into how AI can be a true force multiplier.

What is your biggest prediction for 2025 for technology?

In 2025, I believe we’ll see a greater shift toward context-aware AI — systems that not only process data but understand it within human, ethical, and environmental contexts. In cybersecurity, this means more adaptive, intelligent defenses that collaborate with human analysts rather than replacing them. The future will favor technologies that are not only smart, but also self-aware, secure, and responsible
