Q&A w/ Yulia Pashchenko, Head of Risk and Control @ New10
)
Hi Yulia, thanks so much for taking the time to speak with us and for speaking at European Women in Technology! Firstly, please introduce yourself and tell us a little bit more about you and your career to date!
I’m Yulia Pashchenko, a seasoned risk and finance leader with over 15 years of experience in banking, leasing and fintech. I currently serve as the Head of Risk and Control at NEW10, a regulated fintech backed by ABN AMRO. My career has always revolved around turning complex regulatory environments into spaces where innovation can thrive. I’m passionate about using technology and smart process design to create scalable, compliant, and customer-friendly solutions.
Originally from Siberia and trained as a mathematician, I’ve built my career at the intersection of regulation, technology, and change. Outside the office, I’m passionate about art and jewelry history — I believe creativity and structure aren’t opposites, they’re allies.
What are you looking forward to at European Women in Technology?
I’m excited to connect with other women who are driving change in their fields — whether through building great products, shaping policy, or leading teams. There’s something incredibly powerful about the shared energy of women who don’t wait for permission to lead. I’m looking forward to learning from their journeys, being inspired by their challenges and solutions, and contributing to conversations that move us all forward.
What does the Leading the Digital Revolution theme mean to you?
To me, “leading the digital revolution” means taking responsibility — not just for building new technologies, but for shaping how we use them. In highly regulated industries like finance, the revolution isn’t just about speed or automation — it’s about trust. It’s about showing that innovation and integrity can (and must) go hand in hand. True digital leadership means creating systems that are smart, scalable, and safe — for businesses, employees, regulators, and customers alike.
What can attendees expect from your session?
My session is called “Leveraging Technology Transformation in a Highly Regulated Industry” — and that’s exactly the mindset we’ll explore. I’ll share a practical framework for innovating in regulated environments without losing momentum, customer focus, or control. We’ll look at how people, process, and technology can be combined to turn compliance from a cost center into a competitive advantage. Expect real stories from the fintech trenches, practical tips, and a fresh perspective on how regulation can empower digital transformation.
What is your biggest prediction for 2025 for technology?
In 2025, I believe we’ll see a major shift in how regulation and technology interact. We’re moving from compliance being a back-office function to something that is embedded into product design and user experience. RegTech will stop being a buzzword and become a natural layer of digital infrastructure — quietly working in the background. Smart companies will no longer view regulation as a constraint, but as an opportunity to build trust, transparency, and loyalty through better digital experiences.
